So I changed my plans and decided to put WinXP on a drive of it's own, and transfer all other data to the new drive. Leave the rest of the drive as unallocated space. fdisk locks up on accessing the hdd. But the thing is, would the other computer recognise it? I believe you can get an ISO image of Killdisk (free version) that you can use from floppy or CD to boot from there and wipe the hard disk. Installing the wrong driver, or simply an incompatible version of the right driver, can make your problems even worse.
