So as an experiment I reset both to over an hour. General input/output error. So if you insert a 10MP picture and resize is to 2x2cm it wont take 6MB anymore. You might see scary error messages like these: Read-Error.

Can help the options in Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Memory?. Anyone with karma >75 is welcome to improve it.   1. in my case rather than alleviating, scrolling trough the document is enough to produce the "Read Error".
  2. From the download page you can also get the OOo 3.3 pre-releases (currently build ID OOO330m7).
  3. It will open ( I hope it works..for you) Now you can save the file as you wish to save in different fomat.....

So everytime you open the document, the text content gets loaded and the application tries to access the image resource online.
